This is gonna be a fun show. A bunch of us donated work to help a friend and fellow artist get his tooth fixed. The show is called "Root Canal". All of the members of Local 303 have donated work, even though I didn't make the flier. Our good friend Leef has donated the gallery at his shop, Mission: Comics & Art, and there is a reception on Thursday, 4-7-11, starting at 7:00 pm.
Come by and get some art and comics.

Where are the Wild Things?

For the month of April, I have decided to complete a drawing a day for the entire month. I think it's more about discipline than the quality or complexity of the drawing itself. Discipline is my greatest weakness. I feel I need improve and a challenge on public record seemed like a good way to wage war on one weakness with another, pride. Just joshing, sort of. I hope to post daily. If you are interested in buying a piece, Let me know.

This was a painting based on a drawing I did at our annual "Not Camping Trip". His name is Ed. I have no name for the duck. The exercise was to limit my palette. Working in Illustrator, I've gotten lazy. Illustrator allows you to add a different color whenever you want. I tend to let this freedom complicate my images. By limiting color I hope to learn a cleaner and more economical design style I can apply to t-shirt design. That's where the money's at!

Real Paint!

I am really excited that I finally busted out the brushes and got paint on them. I did a series of pigs playing instruments. I had the paint. I had the wood. Now I have 3 paintings. I will be making prints that will be available in the Etsy shop shortly.

Here's a new piece I did for a show last month at Artist X-Change in SF.

303 to close in April

Not much in the way of art to report. We did get the news that we are moving out of the studio at the end of April. It has been a real good time being a part of the Local 303. There is already someone lined up to move in, so no need to try and contact me or the other guys to get the spot. There will be one more Open Studio party and I think it will be a blowout so keep an eye out for that. Thanks to everyone who came by over the years and I will let you know if there will be any future 303 activity. My work will still be available at Artist Xchange and from my Etsy store.

Me and fellow 303 artist Matt Delight started a blog and podcast. "Fat and Skinny Go to the Movies" will be our outlet for talking about movies. Both of us are die hard movie nuts and thought it could be a lot of fun, and we were right. The first episode is already up on the blog and on iTunes.
