My first solo show, ever!

I am honored to be showing my work in the gallery at Mission: Comics & Art this June. It is my very first solo show and I can't think of a better place to have it. This show is a collection of paintings and digital pieces completed during the last couple of years. It will include past works from themed shows, some never shown in a public place, and some I just did because that's what you do when you are an artist. Prints of some of the work will be available at the show along with various other Jason Dryg original odds and ends. Below is the official flyer for the show.

The receptions at Mission: Comics & Art are always a great party and it's in the heart of the Mission. Surrounded by some of the finest dining and most vivid nightlife in San Francisco, it promises to be a great night out. I hope you can come by.

Special thanks goes to the gallery owner, Leef.  His incredible generosity, commitment to community, and support of the arts is unrivaled.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jason

Sparkly painting 2013

Here is a new painting for my first ever solo show in June 2013. It is an acrylic painting on wood, based on my signature squid/alien characters. They started as digital pieces that I wanted to make more solid and real. It is a wierd transition going from digital to traditional. I really had to let go of the control and exactness that digital allows. That said, I think it came out pretty good.

Boobies redux

I don't know how I missed that boobies have yellow eyes. Heres a retool with some fine tuning and yellow eyes. I'm calling it finished

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Not really my holiday, but a good excuse to eat some good food and candy.

This is an original illustration I bought for $25. It's such a good example of classic illustration, though a tad on the cutesy side. Its just one of the many things I've collected over the years that I don't know what to do with.

Look at my Boobies!

Fascinated with these guys. Thought I'd do a new critter inspired piece. Standing a diminutive 12" high, they can have a 6' wing span. They stand on one foot and alternate as a ritual mating dance. Cute!

Had a great time. Thanks to Ben Collison and Leef from Mission Comics for putting on this little wing-ding.

I did this for a show but it was rejected based on a very loose interpretation of the theme, which was "Delicious". The palette and shape of a tart with strawberry, kiwi and apricot seemed like a winner to me. Oh well. It is now available in my Etsy store.

The Muse and her portrait. I think it's pretty good. She's a sweetie.

I painted a portrait of Sully, a kitty I sometimes sit for. I did it as a Christmas gift for my friends, Rusty and Merin.
